El Pollo Loco restaurants are wonderful fast food restaurants. They have grilled, marinated chicken meal deals like a 4 or 8 piece chicken meal with 2 sides to choose from: black beans, rice, macaroni & cheese, veggies, corn, pinto beans, mashed potatoes. The chain recently added sweet corn cake, sweet potato fries, and flame grilled corn as additional side choices. There are menu options called Kids Combos with kid size portions of Pollo Bowls, 2 pieces of chicken, or a BRC (beans, rice, cheese) burrito. Chicken Tostadas or Grilled Chicken Salads are a couple of healthy salad choices. Even leaner options are included in the Lindora Lean for Life menu like a skinless chicken breast meal that has a side salad and steamed veggies. They also have chicken and (for a limited time) fish tacos, burritos, fresh beverages, and desserts. The salsa bar has the El Pollo Loco House salsa, pico de gallo, avocado salsa, salsa roja (hot), guacamole, sour cream, cilantro, lime, and jalapeno hot sauce packets. If you dine in the restaurant, you can refill your beverage for free yourself.
The El Pollo Loco restaurants are bright and open and clean. The aroma of flame broiled chicken lingers in the air around the restaurant to get your appetite going. They are also unusually busy at lunch and dinner time but the staff manages to keep up with the demand with good cheer. Another neat thing that El Pollo Loco does is it has recipes for meals created with their chicken for you to make at home on their website. Recipes for Chicken Enchiladas, Baja Layered Salad, and Chicken Fajitas are just some of the cooking ideas they have for their chicken. Catering is also available for large groups with items such as 24 to 48 pieces of chicken or a burrito platter. El Pollo Loco is located mostly in the Western United States and has locations in Texas and Illinois.
